Jimmy’s Music Club, a legendary New Orleans venue that hosted icons like The Meters and The Neville Brothers before closing after Hurricane Katrina, partnered with Spade Design for its historic rebirth. After a 20-year hiatus, the project required building a complete digital presence from scratch. We developed a new brand voice, created compelling content, and implemented modern operational systems to honor the club’s legacy and reintroduce it to the world.
The new owners of Jimmy’s Music Club faced a unique challenge: how to resurrect a beloved brand that had been dormant for two decades. The club’s history was rich, but its identity existed only in memories and old articles; it had no modern brand voice, website, or digital infrastructure. They needed to tell the incredible story of the club’s past—from its role as a proving ground for the NOLA punk scene to its closure after Katrina—while building a functional platform for a new era.
Spade Design provided a comprehensive strategy to bridge the 20-year gap. We immersed ourselves in the club’s history to develop an authentic brand voice and website copy that tells the story of its legendary past and exciting rebirth. We implemented a modern digital ticketing system, allowing fans to buy tickets online for the first time. A content and email marketing strategy was created to share stories of past glory while promoting new shows, effectively rebuilding the Jimmy’s community in a digital format.
The relaunch successfully reintroduced a New Orleans icon to the digital age. The new brand voice and website authentically capture the rebellious, soulful spirit of the original club, engaging both old fans and a new generation of music lovers. The seamless digital ticketing and email marketing systems have modernized the club’s operations, allowing for efficient show management and direct communication with a growing fanbase. Jimmy’s Music Club was reborn not just as a physical venue, but as a powerful digital brand ready to write its next chapter.
